Happy Saturday!

It's finally March, and here in Chicago that means that Summer is... still 2.5 months away. But it's closer than it was in February, so I'll take it. When deciding what to wear in the winter months, when that snow and slush is still on the ground, it can be difficult to look cute but still remain functional. And add being a busy twenty-something - like being a working girl or a graduate student - and there's even less time to plan cute outfits. Here are three tips for remaining sunny in a sun-less season here in the Chi.

1. Wear brights.
Nothing gets me out of a style funk quite like wearing brights. I'm lusting over Gap's "skinner" jean, especially in yellow.

2. Choose a theme and go with it - have fun!
Sometimes when I'm lacking the motivation to truly enjoy getting myself put together in the morning, I think - let's dress "Western," or "Prep," or even "Sporty." And then I make myself go all out. For example, often when I want to dress "Western" I'll wear these pair of my favorite, functional, Minnetonka Moccasin mid-calf boots. They're a bit pricey but I've had them for years and they really spice up an outfit.

3. Find inspiration where you can - whether it be other bloggers (some of my favorite fashion bloggers are the beautiful Jessica Sturdy of www.bows&sequins.com and Krista Linn of www.serioussouthernshopaholic.blogspot.com.) Take a minute and peruse their OOTD's (outfit of the day) to get some serious inspiration.

Have a fabulous rest of the weekend, and I'll check back soon!
