Happy Happy Saturday!

I'm a day late, but this outfit took me around my little suburban town and then out to dinner with an old friend in the city. I couldn't have had a better day - spin class, casually reading in Caribou Coffee (Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - it's a must read if you haven't yet!) and then taking the train down to River North for a much-needed catch up sesh. Here's what I wore:
Here's my top - it's Vineyard Vines (old) but they have similar shirts at J Crew (sale!) and on vineyard vines' site as well.
On my feet I wore my trusty Target ballet slipper look-a-like shoes (old). I'm on the hunt for more Spring flats as well as wedges, and Target's always top of my list to look!
On bottom, I'm wearing my go-to Gap foldover khakis. They're super comfortable and hit just at the ankle, so you can show off the shoes you're wearing. If I could live in them - I would. And they're great for Spring, Summer, and heck - Fall too!

While it's on my mind, I have to send a shout out to two stores that I'm dying to order from. First is the store "Shop Dandy" (www.ShopDandy.com) and the second is The Red Dress Boutique (located in-store in Athens, GA and online at www.RedDressBoutique.com). When I order something from either of these places, I'll let you know!

Happy Sunday night all,
cCa

My Very First #OOTD

I'm super excited to bring you all my very first outfit of the day (OOTD) post! Please excuse the a) selfie and b) messy background / bad photographer skills. I promise I'll get better!

Today I was planning to meet some friends for Bocce and lunch, followed by a glamorous trip to the eye doctor. For this day of errands I decided on my green Gap skinnies and my blue camp button down from J. Crew (old).
On my feet I decided to go with my trusty Sperrys. These are definitely my Fall / Winter pair - I'm currently searching for the perfect lighter pair to transition into the Spring and Summer!
I love the leopard detail on the sides. They're comfortable, too! I snagged them one weekend at Macy's during a mega-sale, so they were a must-have.

Until next time!

Cheers,
cCa

Suburban' livin'

Today I had my perfect day: haircut, Starbucks run (needed a 3 pump SF hazelnut ;) ), and a double workout of running and spinning. While I was bustling about in the suburbs, I had the chance to stop in one of my favorite boutiques - Ellen's on Elm. They carry jewelry, flip flops, purses, decorative items for home, and clothing. They carry Lilly Pulitzer, Vera Bradley, as well as a variety of staple items for your home or, more appropriately, beach / ski home :)

Immediately I was drawn towards their Vineyard Vines section, where I picked out two items: the gingham shep pullover and an iphone 4 case. I purchased the iphone case and am thinking about going back tomorrow to pick up the sweatshirt - it's just too adorable not to own! It's also a perfect piece to transition from winter to spring with skinnies, and then smoothly into summer with white shorts or pants for cool summer evenings.

That's all for now. Happy Hump Day tomorrow!

Good morning and Happy Saturday once again!

I just finished another block in my medical school career (fingers crossed...) and the rest of my med school class and I are on Spring Break for the week. What does that mean for me? Shopping! I'll be on the lookout this week for new spring styles and trends for the budget-conscious but cute, and probably preppy and bright, wardrobe. Keep checking back to see what I find and I'll post more frequently now that finals are over.

Happy Saturday!

It's finally March, and here in Chicago that means that Summer is... still 2.5 months away. But it's closer than it was in February, so I'll take it. When deciding what to wear in the winter months, when that snow and slush is still on the ground, it can be difficult to look cute but still remain functional. And add being a busy twenty-something - like being a working girl or a graduate student - and there's even less time to plan cute outfits. Here are three tips for remaining sunny in a sun-less season here in the Chi.

1. Wear brights.
Nothing gets me out of a style funk quite like wearing brights. I'm lusting over Gap's "skinner" jean, especially in yellow.

2. Choose a theme and go with it - have fun!
Sometimes when I'm lacking the motivation to truly enjoy getting myself put together in the morning, I think - let's dress "Western," or "Prep," or even "Sporty." And then I make myself go all out. For example, often when I want to dress "Western" I'll wear these pair of my favorite, functional, Minnetonka Moccasin mid-calf boots. They're a bit pricey but I've had them for years and they really spice up an outfit.

3. Find inspiration where you can - whether it be other bloggers (some of my favorite fashion bloggers are the beautiful Jessica Sturdy of www.bows&sequins.com and Krista Linn of www.serioussouthernshopaholic.blogspot.com.) Take a minute and peruse their OOTD's (outfit of the day) to get some serious inspiration.

Have a fabulous rest of the weekend, and I'll check back soon!
